Except where otherwise stated, content on this site is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License. This means you are allowed to use and adapt most of the information on this website, as long as you give credit to SNOW when you share it.

For any information that retains a copyright license, please contact the author of the content regarding use, printing, or distribution of the content.

Disclaimer

SNOW works to ensure that content is up to date and accurate. However, especially due to the rapid changes in technology, you may come across content that has errors or has become dated. SNOW is not liable for any indirect, special, incidental, or consequential damages arising out of the use of the information on the SNOW website. SNOW does support some concepts (the concept of inclusion, for example), but does not endorse any specific approach, company, or product. This information is for educational or informational use only, and you may require additional resources beyond the information shared on the SNOW. If you are interested in using anything discussed on the SNOW website, make sure to learn more about it to decide if it is right for your context.

SNOW has many links to external websites that are not controlled by SNOW or the Inclusive Design Research Centre. The presences of a link on our website does not mean that SNOW endorses or is responsible for the information on that website. If you have concerns about the content of a link, it is best to contact the organization responsible for that website. However, if you are using the SNOW site and you come across a broken link or one that leads you somewhere you didn’t expect, please contact us at snow@idrc.ocadu.ca to let us know so that we can adjust the link.

Privacy

Management of personal information by SNOW, the Inclusive Design Research Centre, and OCAD University is governed by the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA). We will not sell or share your information with any third party. We will explain our current practice on how your information is used when you visit the SNOW website or use SNOW resources.

When you contact us or register for a workshop, you may decide to provide name, address, phone number, e-mail address, credit card number, and/or additional information. Information that you share will not be shared with any non-SNOW individuals, third party services, or organizations. The main exceptions are when registering for a workshop:

  • You will be placed in an online learning environment where your name will be shared with a moderator and your fellow workshop participants.
  • Our online learning platform for the workshops is run through Taking IT Global Educators (TIGEd), which makes use of other resources like WebEx for the online chat. Information entered into these sites and services is governed based on TakingItGlobal’s  privacy policy and WebEx’s privacy policy.
  • Your payment information is processed through OCAD University’s finance department. If you pay online, your sensitive information (e.g. credit card data) is encrypted and transmitted to OCAD University’s Finance department in a secure way, which you can verify by checking for signs of this on your web browser (e.g. “https” at the beginning of the URL/web address or a closed lock icon in the address bar). If you are paying another way, this information is delivered to OCAD University’s Finance information for processing.

Feedback shared with SNOW

Any ideas, comments, or materials sent to SNOW will not be considered confidential and may be shared on the website in the future. Your name will not be shared on the website, except with your permission. In general, SNOW will be free to use, adapt, or reproduce any ideas, comments, or responses (e.g. adding a new type of technology or app to a page). However, when appropriate, SNOW will work with you to help you develop an idea for you to share on the website (e.g. sharing an initiative in your school as an article on SNOW).
